Held in Virginia Beach, this year's show was held inside the brand-new convention center built next door to the former center. Very nice!! Shown above are two of the first views one would see upon entering. At left is the scene in the lobby at the admissions area. At right is the view as one enters the hall.
The Tidewater District of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs holds a show each year here and always has a number of interesting and creative designs and exhibits. A few of them are shown below. At left is a miniature design titled "Seeing Double" which one best in class. At right is another best in class entry, titled "Levitation" (a suspended arrangement).
This one is titled "Jungle Magic", designed by William King. A very
interesting and creative class.
Black hats were seen everywhere. At left is the 1st place planted container, designed by Bill Smoot and Sylvia Heaster, titled "Winter Garden Magic". At center and left are two entries in the class "Magician's Black Hat". At center is the 1st place entry by Great Neck Florist and Gifts, designed by Tonia Ciccone.
Of course, we had our usual display and sales booth. We were near the front of the hall, just to the right of the entrance. At left is the view as one would approach the booth from the entrance. The appeal of the display is the "wall of flowers" that we erect behind the sales tables, shown at right. Here, customers can see more fully grown plants of the standard and miniature-size varieties of African violets that are for sale on the table in front. The plant in the corner of the booth with the orange blooms is Kohleria 'Manchu'. |
